  • Keep debris such as leaves and sticks out of the fountain pump.  This can be done by taking the pump out and wiping it with a cloth.  You can remove the cover of the pump and clean the inside as well.  For hard to reach areas, use a toothbrush or a cotton swab.

Decorating Fun For Your Garden

Do you love to be outside?  Well, why not add a little fun to your yard or garden.  You can go out and shop for garden items such as statues or water fountains.  You can hunt for bargains like old pots and buckets at flea markets or garage sales.  Or you can take a good look at some of the items you are throwing away.   You can turn almost any piece of junk into a treasure for your garden.

First of all,  if you like to buy new or you want a nice focal point in your garden, go ahead and shop around.  My personal favorites are garden water fountains.  They create a peaceful atmosphere in your garden.  It can become your focal point of your garden.  They come in many different styles and sizes.  You can also fine one to fit almost any budget.  If you are not crazy about water, how about a statue or a piece of garden furniture.

Next, shop around at flea markets or garage sales.  Remember someones else’s junk can be your treasure.  Look for items to use as planters like wash tubs or barrels.  Iron pieces such as horseshoes and old farming tools make excellent wall hangings.  A scratched up chair or table can come alive with a can of paint.  Old bottles or glass jars can be hung from fences and tress.  All of these items can be picked up for very little money and will find a perfect home in your garden.

Lastly, we cannot forget those free items.  Those things you or your family or friends are throwing away.  That old boiling pot or gumbo pot that has one too many dents in it.  Use it as a planter.  That muffin tin that is black from use, turn it upside down and use it as a step in a garden path.  If you like candles that come in those fancy glass jars that you hate to throw away, hang them in a tree with a tea light in them for an instant lantern.  Old newspapers make excellent ground cover for weeds.  Just make sure to wet the newspaper once it’s down and weeds will have a hard time coming through.  You can even take an old shoe or boot and paint it.  You can plant a flower in it or just use it for decoration.  Be creative, have fun and let the decorating begin.
